SEO and SEM shouldn’t be compared at all, but rather SEO and PPC or Paid Search.

We’ve spent a little over $5000 but we weren’t getting any leads of people interested in buying our US-made Adirondack chairs. we started consulting with a company who basically told us though that our targeting was too broad and the way to go is lots of exact match keywords, consolidated ad groups (all our groups are less than 20 keywords now), and including lots of long-tail keywords. if you want id recommend emailing him or whatnot if at least for the free ppc account audit, it helped us out increase our sales a bit after the economy downturned here. his email is simon.b@resultsdriven.org. hope that helps!

Its pretty easy to setup, you just have to go in under the ad extensions tab and select the call extensions selection to set it up. Google charges on a per call basis but its a lot cheaper and more cost-effective than paying per click we also have the upgraded service which allows you to track and record our calls but that’s done separately. As in, are you blocking the bad traffic with negative keywords based on real data? If not, consider what that’s probably costing you in wasted ad spend. Just note that you don’t want to throw in just any variation of keywords into the negative space because you don’t want to create conflicts with the good working keywords. I had Simon help me out with this before. I’m sure he’d be willing to talk to you too if you just give him a ring at 240-455-3886 and tell him you need some help with your PPC campaigns.
